We arrived in Sevilla thinking PORK and VINO. Please don’t judge us. We just spent 2 weeks in pork-less Morocco and we were thirsting for our alcoholic bebidas. As soon as we checked in at our AirBnb apartment in the area near Plaza Alfalfa, we checked out the neighborhood in search of our tapas y vinos.
LA BODEGA DE ALFALFA did not disappoint. The man at the bar quickly spotted our giddiness for Rioja and Ribera del Duero. It didn’t take very long before we ordered our tapas and raciones of pulpo a feira, croquetas and solomillo a la whiskey. This last one intrigued us as we haven’t tried the dish yet.
Conscious not to fill up and to limit ourselves to one drink each and 3 types of tapas, we hopped to the Bar Alfalfa just across the street. This time around, we were ready for the Andalusian salmorejo and slices from the hanging jamones above the bar.
Next we moved about 2 blocks away to check out El Rinconcillo. Quite crowded by the time we got there, but it didn’t diminish our appetite for coquinas (clams), and pimientos de padron. The last item wasn’t on the menu but we literally begged the man at the bar to serve us some. He promptly checked with the bar’s kitchen and happily advised us to wait.
We made good on our first night in Seville. No first-timers here amongst us so the agenda clearly lies along gastronomic pursuits. Eat, drink and be merry! Call us TEAM HAPPY 😄😄😄
